This project was part of my university branding module, where the task was to build a personal brand from the ground up. The goal was to explore what makes a brand cohesiveβ€”visually and verballyβ€”and how to effectively communicate its identity.

Since this was my first introduction to branding, it pushed me to think beyond visuals and consider the strategy behind building a strong identity. I gained insights into brand consistency, messaging, and how design choices impact perception. This project gave me a foundation in branding principles, and I’ll review at the end how this experience helped me grow and what areas I can improve.

A small introduction for myself since I was presenting myself as a brand: (edit needed)

β€œMy name is Gayatri Pandya. I come from India, a country known for its wonderfully diverse cultures. Being brought up in my country naturally made me curious about cultures outside India.

So, after completing my bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering, I decided to follow my interest in Design and study abroad. I wanted to learn and experience new cultures.

I've always been a person who loves to consume content. Personally I enjoy listening to music, reading, watching anime & K-dramas. All these things opened up a whole new perspective to my life and how I enjoy it.”

After getting the assignment, my immediate thought was to create a brand for a local bookstore. I even started working on it immediately. However, while researching different book store markets, I took a step back and realised that I could work on something which is slowly building a trend in the UK.

I wanted to build a brand for a local manga store based in Uxbridge. A few months back, I tried to find a store near me but was disappointed when I found out there was not even one in the area.

So, a manga bookstore, was what I finalised as my brand.

The audience for a manga store is incredibly diverse and encompasses a wide range of demographics. My brand will target the age group of 18-35 who read manga, since our primary success factor is to drive profitability through manga sales. While also focusing on people who watch anime regularly and working on converting them into potential customers.

OOH marketing will be more focused in Uxbridge and the areas nearby.
